Dr. Claudia Dozier Selected as 2013 recipient of B.F. Skinner Foundation Young Researcher Award in Applied Research : Dr. Claudia Dozier was recently selected as the 2013 recipient of B.F. Skinner Foundation Young Researcher Award in Applied Research. The recognition was given for her existing contributions to the field of applied behavior analysis in particular her work on interventions for problem behavior and assessment and treatment models to problems in early childhood education.
With the award, Dr. Dozier will also present an address at the American Psychological Association's 2013 convention in Honolulu, Hawaii. Posted Jan 15, 2013

Dr. Watson-Thompson Awarded Excellence in Community-Based Teaching & Scholarship Award : The Excellence in Community-Based Teaching & Scholarship award recognizes one faculty member from a member campus in Kansas who has successfully incorporated service-learning into at least one course with demonstrable outcomes and conducted outstanding research in the field of service-learning and engaged scholarship. Jomella Watson-Thompson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Behavioral Science at the University of Kansas was selected for this honor.
Dr. Watson-Thompson’s aim is to improve community conditions by systematically addressing conditions in the environment that influence key behaviors of interest through community interventions implemented with collaborative partners. Her efforts have contributed to an increase in the diversity of students involved in engaged scholarship; mentoring both African-American graduate and undergraduate students through engaged scholarship and involvement in under-invested minority neighborhoods in Kansas City. Much of her research has included community members’ involvement during every step of the process. Dr. Watson-Thompson is contributing to the field of service-learning by further examining how to support engaged scholarship using a community-based participatory research approach.
